City Clocks repair, restore and sell clocks and barometers

It is generally accepted that these compact, elegant and highly collectable clocks were developed from the pendule de voyage made under the auspices of the eminent French clockmaker, Abraham-Louis Breguet. Because of their popularity among the officers of Napoleon’s armies they were also known as pendules d’officier. The early examples were of great complexity and very expensive.

English carriage clocks followed the styling and popular names of the French clocks. They were made in relatively small numbers by makers such as McCabe, Frodsham, Dent and Barrand.

The cost and exceptional quality of manufacture reflected the fact that many of these makers also made precision chronometers.

The collection we offer today are a blend of the superb craftsmanship of the early makers and the technical excellence achievable with modern methods of production. The movements and cases are all hand made in London. The elegance of these timepieces would grace any home or occasion.
